Florida Metal Roof Pricing · HOMEOWNER GUIDANCE

What does each item in the quote pay for?

Each item should explain a material or a piece of work. If it only says “metal roofing” or “trim,” ask what product and work that includes. The answer should be clear enough to put in writing.

What this means for your project

Look for the roof system, preparation or removal, underlayment, flashing, installation work, disposal, and site protection where applicable. One contractor may combine several activities into a single price, so line-item count alone does not indicate quality. The goal is to understand scope rather than require a particular formatting style. Ask whether referenced attachments and product descriptions are part of the proposal you are reviewing. Keep the clarification with the proposal so you do not have to rely on memory.

Roofing words used here

Scope of work
The written list of work included in a quote, and any work left out.
Roof system or assembly
The roofing materials and the way they are installed together, including panels, layers underneath, and attachments.
Underlayment
A protective layer beneath the outer roof covering.

Questions worth taking with you

  • Find the named system or attached specification.
  • Identify work to existing materials and openings.
  • Ask how disposal and site protection are described.
  • Keep written clarifications with the proposal version.
